Chimney caps keep water from entering the top of our chimney. Water entering the home in any shape is bad, but what happens when you don’t have a chimney cap?

Rust can occur on metal parts such as pipes, and water can penetrate mortar and expand bricks. Also animals can enter through the chimney without a properly installed cap. 

Chimney caps are especially important for gas burner chimneys. Without one, strong winds can push harmful gases like carbon monoxide back into your home, which is obviously dangerous. Plus, they keep debris like leaves and branches from clogging up your chimney.
