What type of fireplace do I have?

Masonry Fireplace

Masonry fireplaces are built with stone or brick and are very heavy. This can impact the foundation if not installed properly. Masonry fireplaces have been around for thousands of years in some shape or form. They can have a gas line or be used for only wood burning.

Zero Clearance Fireplace

Zero clearance fireplaces can be installed virtually anywhere in your home. These fireplaces can vary between direct vent, vented, or ventless fireplaces. They can be covered with brick, stone, tile or even dry wall with some clearance. The chimney can be a vent on the outer wall or through the roof.
